2008 Genuine Risk Red Bordeaux Blend

2008 Genuine Risk Red Bordeaux Blend
Bordeaux varieties from Santa Ynez Valley are quite different than those grown in Napa Valley. We are in a cooler region so the wines tend to have a bit more natural acidity and structure and less alcohol and over-ripe flavors. Genuine Risk is named after a Kentucky Derby winning filly that was raised in Santa Ynez Valley just dow the road from this vineyard. The 2008 is a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc and 26% Petit Verdot. Aged for 18 months in 30% new oak, 250 cases produced.
