In 2008 we decided to start bottling small amounts of Holus Bolus Syrah from single vineyards. In an effort to highlight particular qualities of places and vineyards that we think are unique we offer three distinct wines: White Hawk, Watch Hill and Rim Rock.
The White Hawk vineyard is located in Los Alamos Valley in northern Santa Barbara County. It is planted on sandy soils between 900 and 1000 feet in elevation and receives a somewhat cool maritime influence. The vines are farmed sustainably and organically in most vintages. The grapes are from a selection of the old California Estrella clone, vine age approximately 10 years old.
91 points, Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, August 2014 “Impressive all around, with plenty of cassis and black raspberry fruit, leather, ground herbs…”
Aged for 18 months in 300 liter French oak barrels, bottled without filtration, 100 cases produced.
